An Infant with Bruising and Lethargy

A newborn who presents for care with bruising, lethargy, or poor feeding requires immediate evaluation. It is important to take a complete history and physical examination determine what further testing warranted. Differential diagnoses should include, but are not limited to, nonaccidental trauma, sepsis, clotting disorders. the baby include medications after birth, vaccination history, nutrition, any social information pertinent living situation. Maternal medical list of current as well those taken during pregnancy, complications related pregnancy chronic health problems. Bruising on in first year life laboratory work may indicate additional radiologic studies assess intracranial hemorrhage. This article will help clinician through case study evaluation treatment.
